Erin Mackay accident death – dead, obituary, funeral plans: Beloved Erin Mckay died June 10, 2020 after a tragic accident.
A 42-year-old Templeton woman died Wednesday after her Jeep was struck in the windshield by a tire and rim on Route 2 in Fitchburg.
The crash happened at about 1 p.m. Wednesday near Mt. Elam Road.
State Police said the woman was rushed to Leominster Hospital with serious injuries and then flown to UMass Medical Center in Worcester where she died.
Erin Mackay death was announced in a statement that read:
Dear Forest Avenue Families,
It is with great sadness this morning we share with you that yesterday our beloved grade 1 teacher, Erin MacKay, passed away unexpectedly. She leaves behind her husband and two daughters.
Not only was Erin a mother to her own children, she was a mother to countless others in our school community. She was an amazing educator, and above all else, a kind and caring person.
We are deeply saddened by this loss and know this will be a difficult time for our students, families, and staff. As a school community we are here to support Erin’s family and our larger school family.
Forest Avenue staff and counselors will be available to support those affected by this loss. Later today, we will communicate a plan to support students, families, and staff.

A great.saddness washes over me as I read of the unexpected passing of MS. Mackay. Erin, a 1st grade teacher, was I’m sure, a patient, kind compassionate woman. Trusted by others to teach speaks volumes as to who she was.
