Tyrell Maharaj death: Beloved 19 year old SA Jockey Academy apprentice has died. The tragic death happened in Pietermaritzburg on Saturday December 28, 2019.
The South Africa Jockey Academy confirmed Tyrell’s passing with a statement that read:

are deeply saddened at the news of the tragic passing of former Apprentice, Tyrell Maharaj, and express their heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathies to the family and loved ones of Tyrell!
Before Tyrell Maharaj death, in March 2019, he and his colleague Cole Dicken, flew to the UK to spend 4 weeks at the British Racing School to complete the International Apprentice Course in Newmarket.
The SA Jockey Academy apprentice rode his only career winner on Moon Rock for Paul Reeves at Kenilworth in July.
Maharaj cause of death is not public at this time.
