Shawn Gann death was announced in a statement that read:

I received some horrible news last night. One of my friends for many many years in the drag racing world took his life last night.

I’ve never been able to comprehend why someone could do this to their family and leave them behind like this. It’s sad all the way around.

I’m thinking of the whole GANN family. RIP Shawn. “ pops turned it up, it’s going to wheelie past the hotdog stand” “ wait till they see my new chrome suit on TV”

With a heavy heart I received news that long time friend Shawn Gann passed away last night.

For many of you that may know or may not know I spent many years working and racing with the Gann family. Shawn was like my brother and Blake (Shawn’s father) was like a dad to me. I virtually lived with them during the racing seasons on the Pro Stock Bike Tours.

I met Shawn when he was 12 years old and became his crew chief as he began racing. Years have gone by but the depth and love of our relationship like a family always continued.

I just got off the phone with Blake and this is a very sad time. God bless the Gann family. This one really stings…love you and God loves you Shawn Gann. Rest In Peace.

God Speed Shawn…..Our hearts and prayers go out to the entire Gann Family.

@darrellcoxracing this is the earliest photo I have the testing of the Prostock.

R.I.P. Shawn Gann. You will be missed. I remember when we met my friend! We was cool the first day. When you got your sponsorship with Oakley you made sure I got a couple of pairs of them. Thanks for the memories my friend!

Shawn Gann obituary is not available at this time.

Our deepest condolences and sympathy during this difficult time.

  5. What can I say, Shawn was a great dear friend of mine since the seventh grade. Most of my teenage memories involved Shawn from playing guitars to going to the drag strip with Blake, Lisa, and Shawn. We were thick as thieves along with other friends. It saddens me to learn about this horrible news and prayers go out to the Gann family. RIP Shawn. You will truly be missed.

  11. Shawn Gann. What a great guy. A racers racer. Never heard any bad things about Shawn, never sucker punched a fellow NHRA racer at the top end on live TV. Shawn, a really cool, nice, well spoken, clean, real guy. May you RIP and God Speed to you. My deepest sympathy and condolences to your Wife, Son, Mom, Dad, entire family, and friends at work personal life and at drag races. Even though I did not have the pleasure of meeting you, I wish I could have @ Pomona CA. Going too miss seeing you on TV and always hearing you and the excitement in your voice. God speed to you from CA

  12. If you believe in god and your are Christian you know he is not in heaven; people who commit suicide don’t go to heaven. It is very sad to hear this and didn’t understand why someone with a great career would do that but nobody is in anybody’s shoes to know what is in their mind or what are they going trough.
Prayers for your soul and your family. Rip.

    • Christ died for the forgiveness of ALL sin. Those that accept Jesus and believe in Him and make it public are saved from the danger of hell. The word says when we become children of God we are joint heirs with Jesus the son we are free indeed!!! We don’t have to be “resaved” after we commit a sin to keep from missing eternity with the Lord…..taking ones own life isn’t the unforgivable thing that isn’t covered by Jesus’s perfect sacrifice.

  14. What am I gonna do without you. You have been my best friend since we where old enough to walk. Me and you had our own little world. I remember having to pick up brass off the gun range before we could go ride motorcycles. I remember you showing up at my house at sunrise on a tiny little motorcycle just to make me laugh cause I was the one that wanted to die. These past 5 years you have made sure I was ok. Now I feel so guilty because I always thought you had the answers to everything and I could have helped you if I’d had known. I’m so sorry. I’m gonna Be lost without u. I love you so much and my life will never be the same.

  17. Suicide is the result of one’s state of mind, a completely seperate issue from that person’s soul condition. You ma’am, are in serious need of spiritual education, specifically regarding the Grace and Mercy afforded believers because of Christ’s blood shed on the cross.

  18. I’ve been at the stage of ending it all on numerous occasions, just can’t because of my loved ones. If you haven’t walked a mile in someone’s shoes that has taken his life, please dont judge.

  19. Shawn was an amazing person… I still cannot believe he is gone. He was always like my safe place at the track. Spent many many hours hanging with him at his trailer. He was always goofy but also always there if you just needed to talk. ❤️

  20. Mena Mesen reading your post makes my heart hurt. Shawn was my friend for many years. He had a contagious smile and a spirited soul. I believe in God and so many people that I love love are in heaven. Keep your beliefs to your self if they are attached to a negative comment. You have no idea of the relationship Shawn had with God.
