The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner Coroner’s Office has now confirmed Jas Waters death case is closed, determining that JasFly died of suicide by hanging.
Our hearts break for the grieving family, friends and loved ones and we urge that their privacy please be respected.
Writer Sade Sellers confirmed her friend Jas Waters dead in a statement that read:
Absolutely devastated to confirm @JasFly‘s passing. She was such a light. Offered me advice about writing so many times— prayers to her family.
Just for clarification, I am not a spokesperson for Jas or her family. I just got confirmation in my DMs from people close to her.
I’m hurt man. She was really an inspiration to me. We share the same birthday. Man.
Also, I don’t have any details other than that. I hope you all respect her family and not pry. When they’re ready to share they will.
It don’t feel real at all. I got all these confirmations but I still can’t believe it. I’m praying that someone says it’s not true bc this is not fair. She was one of the fking good ones.

Jasmine Waters was born in Evanston, Illinois. At the time of her death, she was living and working in Los Angeles. Waters was a graduate of Columbia College Chicago and worked for VH-1, Comedy Central and Showtime – Showtime’s “Kidding,” NBC’s “This Is Us,” VH1’s “Gossip Game” and many more.
She also worked on hit projects such as “Spiderman 1 and Spiderman 2, Hardball, Save The Last Dance, MTV’s Real World, Barbershop 1 and Barbershop 2 and the NBC’s ER
