Caleb Meakins death, obituary: Beloved social entrepreneur Caleb Meakins died 28 February, 2020 after a car accident.
His family announced the social entrepreneur, global poverty ambassador and TedX speaker’s death in a heartbreaking statement that read:
Hey friends,
We come with heavy hearts to share with you all that our dear Caleb went to be with our Heavenly Father at 17:40 today and is now in glory.
He passed away peacefully and without any pain.
We are all still in shock. This doesn’t feel real. We are feeling such deep pain and sorrow but feel comfort that he has been reunited with his creator and is now in glory.
Join us while we grieve and thank God for Calebs life and the huge impact he has had on all our lives

Caleb Meakins death, obituary: How Caleb Meakins accident happened
Caleb was due to catch a flight to London on the evening of 20th February when he got involved in a ghastly car accident.
He had a severe head injury, skull fractures on the left side and back of his head as well as one on his first cervical vertebrae (1st neck bone). He had also had issues with his lungs, both of which have collapsed at different times.
After two surgeries doctors were able to close up his open skull fractures, remove a blood clot from the back of his head and insert two chest drains into his lungs.
Caleb became stable and showed positive signs before deteriorating again and remained in a critical condition.
His infection markers went up. He had ventriculitis (infected fluid in the ventricles of his brain) and meningitis. The ventriculitis was extremely serious. Doctors treated it with three lots of antibiotics. The Nordic hospital is the only facility in Addis which is able to treat ventriculitis.
