The beloved 17-year-old senior volleyball player from Bastrop High School was to turn 18 on June 6, 2020. Her sudden and unexpected death has devastated her family and loved ones.
Below is a heartbreaking tribute from her father:
I sit here this morning still numb. There’s just nothing that can be said to take this type of hurt away. It’s a different hurt.
I’m sad. I’m pissed off. But, like I said, I’m still numb. I read all your special messages and memories and I love them. Don’t think they aren’t seen.
Caitlyn Harman was my RIDE OR DIE.
The joke with close family was I couldn’t go to the bathroom without her. I miss her tremendously. We are suppose to be getting in the car right now to go grab lunch. She had big plans in life. Never held back her thoughts and feelings.
We have a strong support group and we love all of you. I completely understand that there are no words to say when something so tragic happens. I don’t always have the words.
I am strong. And some way I will fight my way back up to where I can breathe again, just not sure how long that will take. She is with my other baby and her big brother Christian Harman.

The Bastrop volleyball team also mourned Caitlyn Harman death in a touching tribute that read:
“Bear nation unfortunately lost one of the sweetest souls (Saturday). Caitlyn, we all miss your infectious smile and huge heart!

Caitlyn Harman death is happening about 3 years after her brother Christian Harman died in 2017 at the age of 19. Christian was a 2016 graduate of Bastrop High who reportedly died of an enlarged heart.

I remember when the Harmans moved in next door. Christian Harman, Clayton Sims and I were inseparable! And right on our coat tails were their younger siblings. Carter Sims Casey, and Caitlyn!
Caitlyn was the only girl on the block until Maddie Jackson, Jennifer, and Amy moved in, and let me tell you, they could hang with the boys!
I remember playing in the backyard, pushing her on their swing set..
I remember sitting on the curb in front of our houses, just being kids..
I remember Carmene Harman always trying to keep a diaper on Caitlyn, but she REFUSED 😂
Childhood memories that I know we ALL cherish.
Our street has always been a FAMILY. I will ALWAYS remember that. I hope these memories made someone smile.

A Celebration of Life Gathering in honour of Caitlyn holds on Thursday at the Bastrop High School cafeteria from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at Bastrop Providence Funeral Home.
