Molly Rasmussen death after a Lake Bella Vista drowning happened June 2, 2020.
Molly Rasmussen was swimming with friends when she went under the water and did not surface. She was later retrieved by Kent County Sheriff’s Office dive team but sadly, she could not be revived.
Molly was just 16 years old and had just completed her sophomore year at Forest Hills Eastern High School.
There will be a candlelight vigil for Molly Rasmussen Thursday night June 4, 9pm at FHE, candles and lighters will be provided.
Molly is Wayland High School graduate Cindi Medendorp Rasmussen’s daughter. Molly was diagnosed with epileptic seizure when she was in second grade and she occasionally struggled with the effects of the disease which didn’t stop her from living life to the fullest.

For those who have not heard, FHE HS sophomore Molly Rasmussen drown last night. This is such a tragedy, and I cannot imagine the pain her parents, Cindi and Mark are feeling. As well as her friends, especially those who were with her yesterday at the lake.
They will be holding a candlelight vigil for Molly Rasmussen Thursday night June 4, 9pm at FHE (not at OV as originally planned) Candles and lighters will be provided.

Aim High lost a dear player last night…Molly Rasmussen💔. She had a big heart and an even bigger work ethic. This girl worked her tail off on every team she was on. She fought hard against not letting epilepsy hold her back. She had an infectious smile and sooo many friends. She played multiple seasons at Aim High and also at Forest Hills Eastern. We grieve with her family💔
Our hearts could not be more shattered for the Rasmussen family. While Molly lays peacefully in the arms of Jesus, her family and friends are here on this earth mourning her tragic loss.
I am fairly certain Molly was the first girl Sammy cared for besides his momma. They had a special connection that death can’t take away.
