There are no words right now. I, along with many others are numb. Josh Ybarra was a loving, caring compassionate and kind soul.

He lit up a room with his smile and always lent a helping hand. From 3rd grade till now , Josh has always been one of my truest friends when nobody knew me.

I am saddened and heartbroken that he is no longer here. I ask everyone to check in on those who are going through difficult times, keep an eye out for any abnormalities and ALWAYS show up and call even when they say they are okay. You see something. You do something.

Josh helped in so many ways and moved many with his encouraging words and bright personality. You will truly be missed Josh. Till we meet again in heaven. Say hi to momma for me, cause I know she welcomed you with open arms. Rest easy and goodnight.

Josh Ybarra you were a fellow brother in blue, brother and friend to me. I remember back in 2009 when I met you. You were working Communications for the City of Pharr Police Department. 

I remember you asking me about if Police Academy was difficult and me telling you that anything is possible if you put your mind to it.

I started working at The Hidlago County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) and you graduated STC Police Academy to then start Pharr PD Patrol.  I thought remember the times we would all hang out together.

The time Mark Espinoza, you, and I all went to SPI. My daughter Julissa enjoyed playing with your children. It was such a great time. We all went clubbing and you somehow lost your shoes somewhere at South Padre Island Texas.

We had really good times bro. 
 I’m at a loss for words right now and can’t believe it. My friend may you Rest In Peace.

Rest In Peace Cousin!! Josh Ybarra So sad bruh!! I remember when we took this pic! We said, Lets take a pic together that will last a lifetime! We got ready and dressed up for this pic! We were excited to take a pic together! I never knew i would use it for this purpose!!!! My heart hurts bro!!!

Today our hearts have been extremely heavy and broken. We received a call in the middle of the night that we never thought would come, the news that Josh Ybarra was no longer with us.

This wonderful friend who was always full of so much happiness was gone. I ask that you keep Becky, his beautiful kids, family and friends in your prayers. This loss is very hard to understand and accept. #9166 💛🖤💙

Rest in peace Josh Ybarra, I was a coach at Hidalgo Early College High School when he was there and I took these photos of Josh’s days as a football player. He was a young man that I really admired for his love for his teammates, his friends, his family, and his love for the game of football.
