According to Jas Impinto, her family didn’t want 22-year-old Italia Kelly to go out that night.

Jas Impinto, real name Jasmine Kelly said:

“By the time I told her not to go she was there. I texted her at 11:29 saying ‘shots fired – go home, girl’.”

22 year old Italia had sent her sister a video of herself protesting, just ten minutes before she was gunned down. Kelly was shot in the passenger seat of the car she was riding in a parking lot off Kimberley Road.

Jasmine explained:

“Her and the people she was with – they got in the car and she was hanging out the window and that was when she was shot.

“She basically raised me, she was everything I wanted to be.”

Jasmine says she was waiting for her sister to text her back, but she never heard from her.

Police say Italia died from a gunshot to her torso. Her shooter is yet to be identified and arrested.

The Iowa Department of Criminal Investigations is investing the shooting.

Minutes after Italia Kelly death, Jas Impinto real name Jasmine Kelly, posted an emotional video on Facebook. But she now wishes she had phrased her message differently.

“I was angry. So many people are mad at me because I said protesters instead of rioters.

I still believe people should protest. But if you’re going to do it, realize that you are not risking just police officers lives. You’re risking protesters lives, you’re risking peoples lives who have goals, who have dreams.”

No arrests have been made in Italia’s death, which is still under investigation.

The family will hold her funeral in Waterloo on Sunday.

I wanted to be the first to post this, but everyone seems to already have. Rest In Peace to the most beautiful person I’ve ever met. You had the prettiest soul and the biggest heart. You fought for what you believed in, you are everything I aspire to be. You will forever be remembered.. I love you Italia. 🙏🏼💛

My video was not intended to put down blm protesters. Do not use that as an excuse to spew your racism. I stand for the protests.

There is an issue with police brutality, and the murdering of innocent black Americans. But I will not stand for the ignorance of the people who turn peaceful protests into riots.

If you were offended by my video because I “made it seem like I’m sticking up for the white man” you’re the problem.

If you don’t see a problem with someone getting murdered, my SISTER getting murdered because people play with guns you do not have to watch the video. She went there to protest, people went there for violence. I’m keeping it up and I stand behind every word.

So stop messaging me. Stop saying my sister deserved it. Stop saying she knew what she was getting herself into. Because the people she was scared of getting shot by was the police, when she should have been worried about the rioters. Last post, comment, or message I’m acknowledging about this bs.
