On November 19th, 1997, Des Moines, Iowa resident Bobbi McCaughey gave birth to septuplets – 4 boys, 3 girls – Joel, Nathan, Kelsey, Natalie, Alexis, Kenneth and Brandon McCaughey.
With the birth of the 7 babies, they became the world’s first surviving set of septuplets at infancy.
Bobbi McCaughey went through a successful caesarean section performed on her by 40 specialists. Her babies were all born within 6 minutes.
Bobbi McCaughey had taken a fertility drug. The septuplets were born nine weeks prematurely on Nov. 19 in Des Moines, joining their older sister, Mikayla, who was 19 and married in 2015.
By 2016, four of Kenny and Bobbi McCaughey septuplets Joel, Nathan, Kelsey and Natalie McCaughey had gone away to college at Hannibal-LaGrange University in the northeast Missouri town of Hannibal.
The small Baptist-affiliated university offered scholarships to all seven of the Iowa children soon after they were born on Nov. 19, 1997.
Two of the septuplets, Alexis and Kenneth, stayed close to home and attended Des Moines Area Community College.
Brandon joined the military.
All seven graduated in May from Carlisle High School.

Brandon is in the military and was engaged to be married in 2018.
