Georgia Engel death happened on Friday 12th of April, 2019. She was 70 years old.
Engel’s friend and executor, John Quilty, told The New York Times that Engel died Friday in Princeton, New Jersey.
Quilty told the Times that Georgia Engel cause of death is unknown because as a Christian Scientist she didn’t consult doctors.
Engel played the soft-spoken and innocent Georgette Franklin on The Mary Tyler Moore Show. She had a decades-long career as a television and stage actress.
She was best known for her role on the 1970s sitcom “The Mary Tyler Moore Show,” for which she was nominated for two Emmy awards.
She also received three Emmy nominations for her work on “Everybody Loves Raymond” for outstanding guest actress in a comedy series.
Engel had recurring roles as Pat MacDougall, the mother-in-law of Brad Garret’s character, on three seasons of “Everybody Loves Raymond” from 2003-2005, as well as on “Hot in Cleveland” from 2012-2015.
Her most recent appearance was on Netflix’s “One Day at a Time” as Sister Barbara.
Engel was the daughter of a US Coast Guard admiral
She was born in Washington, D.C., the daughter of Ruth Caroline and Benjamin Franklin Engel, who was a Coast Guard admiral. She graduated from the Walter Johnson High School in Bethesda, Md. and earned her degree from the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
Though she worked predominantly in television throughout her career, Engel began acting on stage, including off-Broadway and Broadway shows. Her film debut came with Milos Forman’s first English-language film, “Taking Off,” which earned her a BAFTA nomination for best actress.
Engel is survived by two sisters, Robin Engel and Penny Lusk.

Georgia went to high school with at Walter Johnson HIGH School and lived two houses from me on Bershire Drive. She had two beautiful sisters, penny and robin and we walked sometimes to school. I was so proud when I read how her career grew and liked to say she was my friend too. My sincere condolences to Penny and Robin
