Ayesha Harrison-Jex’s battle with cancer:
Ayesha was diagnosed with cancer 3 years ago in 2015. This was years after her and retired NBA superstar Shaquille O’ Neal’s grandmother, Odessa Chambliss, mother to Dr. Lucille O’Neal passed away of breast cancer in 1996.
Dr. O’Neal mother’s words shortly before she died were:
“It’s not the quantity of your life but the quality of your life that will affect others around you.”
To honor her mother, Dr Lucille founded the Odessa Chambliss Center for Health Equity at B-CU.
