Read below the pleas for help to find Nathan made by his loved ones on social media:
Dear friends,
If any of you are near Walnut, Mississippi or know someone who is please help us in our search for my nephew, Nathan Covarrubias. He has been missing from Summit’s View boarding school since yesterday and has a host of mental health needs. He loves the outdoors, so he might have taken to the woods, but we’re not sure. This is his second night on his own. Please, we need all the help we can get to find him.
Hey, everyone. My son ran away from his residential boarding school in Mississippi yesterday afternoon. Local law enforcement in 4 surrounding counties of Mississippi and Tennessee are aware of the situation. Carrie Covarrubias and I are on our way to northern Mississippi right now to help search for him. Please share this post and contact me if you can help in any way.
We arrived in northern Mississippi tonight to search for our son. The area is heavily wooded, lots of hills, rural; its gonna be a difficult search. If you are inclined to help, I could sure use more people over here to help me and Carrie Covarrubias with the search. I e asked law enforcement for help and I’m waiting for them to make an appeal for Texas Equuserch to come help; that’s the protocol. If you have resources or ideas or you know influential people, this would be the time. Tha I you for your continued prayers and I hope i can report better news tomorrow.
Nathan search update: the state is setting up a command post at an intersection south of the property. The state is supposed to be bringing drones to aid in the search.
I requested drones from the Cajun Navy’s Drone division as well and they will arrive tomorrow. A state investigator and the Alcorn county sheriff are both at Summits View conducting work.
Two search and rescue dogs are here tracking Nathan’s scent, but only one dog at a time can be out working so they do not step on each other’s scent. We (Carrie, myself, and about a dozen or so neighbors) are at a neighbors property waiting to get the all clear from the dog teams to start searching on foot.
Thank you for your continued thoughts and prayers and messages. I apologize for not responding to them all, but I am plenty busy with phone calls and texts w agencies all the time. Multiple media outlets were contacted and I am expecting a reporter from the Tupelo newspapers to call us for an interview.
This is a video snapshot of what Nathan was wearing when he left Summits View. We have word that a neighbor may have seen him walking by their home south of us on Friday. Search and rescue will let us know the next plan.
Nathan search update: Sheriffs have picked up a hot spot w the infrared drone about 150 feet behind the silhouette of the tall pine tree on the right side of the photo. The red dot in the sky is the drone. Please do not let up with your prayers.
Please pray for Nathan.
