We are so sad to announce that George Smawley has passed away. We, his friends and family, are setting up this page to help meet future expenses for his wife Donna and daughters Grace and Abby.

Although these contributions cannot make up for the magnitude of their loss, it can show the girls that we loved and admired their father and how deeply we care about their future.

Please say a word of prayer for Smawley’s loved ones as you read the tributes below:

George Smawley……I can’t begin to describe what you did for Cabel. You helped shape him into the man he is today. You were truly a second father figure to him. His love of running comes from you. You will always be part of his running family and will never be forgotten. Thoughts and prayers to your wife and girls and to all the cross country, winter track and spring track families.

My heart hurts this morning. My son, AJ, texted that his HS Track Coach, George Smawley, passed away. He was young – way too young… AJ had a great relationship with “Smawley”.

As a senior, he made States and was invited to compete up at Cornell. He ran in a medley – all of 80 seconds. His coaches made the 5 hour+ trip and after a great run by AJ, my wife,me and AJ decided to have dinner to celebrate with his coaches.

Smawley wanted La Mela’s in Little Italy. He seemed so excited to go there – so we went. As we were finishing dinner, he excused himself to go to the bathroom. He actually snuck away to pay the bill.

It was a kind gesture from a kind man, a great mentor and a loving Coach. You will be missed Coach. God bless you, God bless and care for your family.

It is with great sadness and deep regret that we report the untimely passing of one of our own members of the Hills Youth Lacrosse Board of Directors. Please consider donating to the Family of our friend George Smawley.
