Beloved Bucky had been battling several health problem in recent years. His cause of death was not immediately announced.
He was a lifelong New Jersey resident and a member of the New Jersey Hall of Fame.

He had been battling several serious health problem in recent years. His cause of death has not been yet announced.

I’m saddened by the passing today of an extraordinary artist, a tremendous guitar legend and an all around great guy. “Bucky” Pizzarelli just left “the studio”, but his work on countless perfect recordings of countless perfect songs will live on in our musical hearts forever. My heart goes out to his son John, his daughter-in-law Jessica, and the rest of the Pizzarelli family. Love. #buckypizzarelli
Bucky Pizzarelli was born in Paterson as John Pizzarelli — his father gave him the nickname Bucky — and served in the army during World War II. After the war, he became a professional musician and moved with his wife, Ruth, to Clifton and then Saddle River.
Their son, John Pizzarelli Jr., also became a well known guitarist, as well as a singer, and another son, Martin, is a professional bassist who has often worked with both.
