UIC shooting threat update: Reports of a potential shooting threat to the University of Illinois at Chicago circulated on social media today.
This caused panic and great concern in the community but according to the UIC police, they have determined the threat isn’t a “credible” one.

UIC Police are aware of an anonymous Facebook post suggesting that a person in the campus community may be having suicidal thoughts.
Additional posts have suggested that there may be an active threat to the campus.
UIC Police are involved and have determined that there is no credible threat to the campus.
If you are worried about the mental health of a friend or loved one, please call the UIC Counseling Center 312-996-3490 to talk about possible courses of action and how to best help.

UIC Police take all threats to the campus community very seriously and will continue to work with Federal and State partners to maintain the safety and security of the university.
