South African deputy president resigns

South African Deputy President, David Mabuza has resigned.

He is expected to be replaced by Paul Mashatile, who was recently elected as Deputy President of the ruling African National Congress.

President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to reshuffle his cabinet in the aftermath of the ANC congress held in December.

Mabuza has been Deputy President since February 2018. Mashatile beat ANC Eastern Cape chair Oscar Mabuyane and Ronald Lamola during the ANC congress.
