19 year old Sladen John Mohl, was a pedestrian when he was killed by a 16-year-old female driver suspected of being under the influence of drugs in Torrance, who has been arrested.
Sladen died at the scene of the crash, according to the coroner’s office and the Torrance Police Department. His home town was not known.
He was an El Camino College student. Mohl was a catcher on the El Camino College baseball team and wore No. 18.

Torrance police Sgt. Ronald Harris said:
“The preliminary investigation reveals the lone driver of a 2015 Toyota Highlander was traveling south on Hawthorne Boulevard approaching Sepulveda Boulevard on a red light,”
“The driver continued south and struck a pedestrian who was standing on the pedestrian island which separates the south lanes of Hawthorne Boulevard and the right-turn lane.
“After colliding with the pedestrian, the driver struck two additional vehicles traveling west across the intersection on a green signal.”
“Officers suspected the driver of the Toyota Highlander, a 16-year-old young woman, to be under the influence of narcotics and/or alcohol.
She was subsequently arrested at the scene.”
Her name was not released. The other motorists were not hurt. The intersection was closed for more than six hours while an investigation was conducted.
At the intersection of Sepulveda and Hawthorne Boulevards, the 16-year-old female driver suspected of driving intoxicated ran a red light and collided into two vehicles after hitting 19-year-old EC student Sladen Mohl, according to a Torrance Police Department (TPD) press release.
The drivers of the two other vehicles were not injured but Mohl sustained major injuries and was treated on the scene by responding Torrance Fire Department personnel.
