The Glastonbury woman accident occurred after she lost control of her car and hit a tree on the side of the highway in Rocky Hill.

According to state police investigators, Rae Tillinghast was driving south on I-91 at 7:30 a.m. Saturday in the left lane just before Exit 23 when she lost control and veered off the right shoulder of the road.

Her 2009 Honda Civic traveled off the pavement, climbed an embankment and hit a tree.

Tillinghast was found dead at the scene. No other cars were involved in the crash and Tillinghast was the only occupant of the car, police said.

The cause of the crash remained under investigation Monday afternoon and troopers have asked any witnesses to contact state police Troop H at 860-534-1000.

Rae Tillinghast is survived by:

  • her mother, Jean Caron
  • her father, David Tillinghast
  • Her yellow lab Peter and new kitty Luna
  • Her older sisters Marie Caron and Paige Tillinghast,
  • her partner Bradley Murray
  • Her maternal grandparents Helen and Jack Caron,
  • her paternal grandparents Lynn and George Tillinghast
  • As well as aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

Rae will be buried after a mass of Christian burial on Thursday, October 31st, 11:00 AM at St. Dunstan Church, 1345 Manchester Rd, Glastonbury CT.

Friends may call at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury CT on Wednesday, October, 30th from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

Rae Tillinghast was born in Hartford, Connecticut on November 27th, 2000. She grew up as a Glastonbury resident, played soccer as a child and graduated from Glastonbury High School, class of 2018.
