26 year old Pablo Ramirez died 23rd April 2019 after he was run over by a dump truck while skateboarding up Seventh Street in the city’s South.
Just moments before he was killed, Pablo was hanging onto the back of a vehicle while being towed through a busy intersection.
A surveillance video from a building at the intersection of 7th and Howard streets, a half block from where the deadly crash happened caught the scene on tape. Scroll down to watch the video.
The crash occurs just a second after Ramirez and the truck disappear from the frame, but it does capture cars behind them suddenly stopping, possibly because of the crash.
Paramedics found Ramirez unconscious, his twisted body bleeding in the middle of Seventh Street between Natoma and Minna streets. They attempted to revive him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The San Francisco Police Department’s major accident team is leading the investigation into what happened, but a cause of the collision has not yet been determined.
According to reports, Pablo had spent Tuesday morning sitting in a San Francisco courtroom with his friends to support their fellow skateboarder, 24-year-old Jesse Vieira, who was on trial for an assault on a security guard.
Vieira is charged with assault with a deadly weapon and battery for an alleged skateboard attack in November 2018 that left a security guard with a traumatic brain injury.
However, when time for afternoon recess came, Ramirez left the Hall of Justice and was just three blocks from the courthouse, when tragedy struck. He was run over by a dump truck while skateboarding up Seventh Street.
