Mohbad failed to show up to prove allegations against Sam Larry – Police

The Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Zone 2, Alagbon, Lagos has said that the late musician Oladimeji Aloba aka Mohbad did not show up to provide evidence on the allegations he made against music promoter Samson Balogun aka Sam Larry.

In a petition dated June 27, 2023, Mohbad alleged that Sam Larry and 15 others all armed, stormed the venue of a video shoot where the deceased and another artiste, Omoniyi Temidayo aka Zlatan Ibile, were working, and threatened to wreak havoc.

He added that they assaulted him and destroyed equipment worth over N5 million at the scene. He said he escaped with injuries.

The petition surfaced on social media after Mohbad’s death on Tuesday at the age of 27.

Spokesperson for the Lagos Annex of the FCID, Oluniyi Ogundeyi, said Sam Larry and others named in the petition were invited for questioning but Mohbad failed to show up at the police station to provide proof of the allegations and assist the police in prosecuting the suspects where necessary.

Ogundeyi said, “We received the petition, and followed up on the information provided in the petition, and the suspects were invited. But Mohbad refused to show up to defend his petition and also provide evidence to assist the police in carrying out a proper investigation and forward the matter to the legal department for prosecution, if necessary.”

The spokesperson further said a lawyer representing Sam Larry and the other suspects wrote a counter-petition against Mohbad, alleging defamation of character.
