Lisa Mason was born in Huntsville, Alabama and studied theatre at Samford University.

Her hobbies included buying things for her dog, Hera, film, yoga, football, boring people with numerous photos of Hera and occasionally playing with fire.

Lisa was a proud nerd, loved sci-fi. She had appeared in several indie films which included Crewless Production’s “Interplanetary” in which she played the worst boss ever. One of her proudest achievements came when she found a copy of “Interplanetary” in the Walmart DVD clearance bin.

Lisa said of the moment:

When your film makes it into the clearance bin alongside classics like “From Justin to Kelly” and whatever Adam Sandler just did, you know you’ve done a beautiful thing. I recently produced the first screenplay I’ve ever written, which entailed turning my basement into a terrifying laboratory.

Her favorite bands were Cheap Trick, Led Zep, and AC/DC.

If her IQ was less than 180, I’d be highly surprised. She had the brains of Einstein, the wit of Dennis Miller, and the looks of a Bond girl. Lisa was this Creative director’s dream come true.

Because of her extensive background in theater and independent film, she was a Sears & Roebuck catalog of characters and personas. And she had a God-given ability to breathe life into the written word.

That talent was most evident during mine and my wife’s wedding. Lisa was one of the lay readers, that October Friday night at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church.

She brought to life the kinder words of Paul the Apostle. “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.” That was her gift to us –and everyone in attendance that night.

And it’s one that we will forever cherish her for. My friend Lisa Mason passed away last night at around 11:30 PM.
