Kunle Afolayan excited as Anikulapo wins best overall film at 2023 AMAA

Filmmaker Kunle Afolayan could not hold back his excitement over Anikulapo bagging the award for best overall film at the 2023 Africa Movies Academy Awards (AMAA).

The event took place on Sunday at the Balmoral Convention Centre in Ikeja, Lagos. The awards gala celebrated the best of African cinema, with filmmakers, actors and other film practitioners from across the globe converging under the same roof.

Produced and directed by Kunle Afolayan, Anikulapo also won best achievement in production design, an award the filmmaker dedicated to the late Pat Nebo.

In his appreciation message shared via Instagram on Monday, the 49-year-old said he feels honoured and appreciated, he also congratulated his fellow nominees and winners.

“I feel honoured and Appreciated.

“Award for Best overall film in an African Language “Anikulapo”.

“Award for Best Achievement in production design (Kunle Afolayan “Anikulapo”) Dedicated to the veteran Pat Nebo. Congratulations to all the nominees and winners.
