Keanon Lowe stopped Parkrose shooting today and he has been hailed as a hero.
Former Oregon Duck Keanon Lowe, now Parkrose High School football coach, stopped a potential shooting at Parkrose High School today by tackling the armed Parkrose high school shooter.
Just before 12 p.m. on Friday, police responded to a call of an armed man near Parkrose High School. According to students’ reports, the suspect intended to use the gun to harm himself.
At a media briefing outside Parkrose High School, Portland Police Bureau spokesperson Brad Yakots told reporters that one person is in police custody, and only one gun was found.

Keanon Lowe, former Oregon Duck now Parkrose HS football coach, was the employee who “wrestled” a man carrying a gun to the ground this morning at the school.
The gunman was first spotted and reported to police at 11:48 am, and was tackled to the ground by Keanon Lowe by noon.
Portland Police Bureau (PPB) said it had received a call earlier this morning about the armed man near Parkrose High School.
By the time officers arrived at the Northeast Portland school, Keanon had taken the man down.
At a media briefing, Portland Police Bureau spokesperson Brad Yakots said that “there is no indication there is any other shooter or any injuries”, that there is no evidence the gun was ever fired at Parkrose.
He added that PPB’s Gun Violence Reduction Team will be handling the investigation.
Parkrose Middle School was put on lockdown because of its proximity to the high school, but will continue with its regular class schedule today.
