Hollywood actor, Johnny Depp is donating all the settlement money from his divorce with actress, Amber Heard, to charity.
His ex-wife, Amber reportedly paid him $1 million settlement after the dissolution of their marriage last year.
According to CNN, a source said the money will be shared among five organisations, with $200,000 going to each.
Both Hollywood stars made appeals following the June 1, 2022 verdict, they decided to drop them and reached a settlement that was announced in December.
Depp handpicked charities that aid ill children as well as those who provide safe homes for various groups.
The five organisations he picked to receive the settlement funds are; Make-A-Film Foundation, The Painted Turtle, Red Feather, Marlon Brando’s Tetiaroa Society charity, and the Amazonia Fund Alliance.
Make-A-Film Foundation assists children who are battling life-threatening or serious illnesses. The second charity, The Painted Turtle is an organisation that provides a life-changing free camp experience for sick children.
Red Feather collaborates with Indigenous communities to create and implement long-term and meaningful housing solutions. Teitaroa Society safeguards the future of island and coastal communities. While the fifth charity, Amazonia Fund Alliance helps to fund the programmes of Brazilian non-profit groups.
Depp and Heard tied the knot in a private ceremony at their Los Angeles home in 2015 after dating for years. On May 23, 2016, Amber filed for divorce from Johnny and obtained a temporary restraining order against him.
She accused Johnny of physically mistreating her during their relationship, most commonly when high on drugs or alcohol.
