Irina Shayk lost 11M followers in 24 hours after Cristiano Ronaldo breakup
Irina Shayk reportedly lost 11 million Instagram followers in 24 hours following her split from Cristiano Ronaldo, who just so happens to be the most followed person on the social media platform.
The Russian supermodel first met the Portuguese soccer star on the set of an Armani ad in 2010.
They went on to date for close to five years, during which they traveled around the world together and even posed for a sultry cover of Vogue Spain, which showed the chiseled athlete standing naked behind the brunette bombshell.
But by January 2015, their romance was over.
“We can confirm Irina Shayk has ended her relationship to Cristiano Ronaldo,” her rep told Page Six at the time, insisting that the breakup had nothing to do with Shayk not showing up to Ronaldo’s mother’s 60th birthday party that New Year’s Eve.
“She has been close with his family throughout the course of their relationship,” the model’s rep said. “Any negative rumors with regards to Irina and the Ronaldo family are completely false and have not been a factor in the cause of the spilt.”
Multiple sources later told us that Shayk, 37, broke up with Ronaldo, 38, around the start of 2015 after finally believing the rumors that the Saudi Professional League player had allegedly had numerous affairs during the course of their long-distance relationship.
According to the US Sun, that was around the time Ronaldo moved on with now-partner Georgina Rodríguez, which reportedly prompted Shayk to tell her fans to unfollow her if they “only know her as Cristiano Ronaldo’s ex-girlfriend.”
The runway vixen’s follower count dropped by 11 million — 75 percent — within a day, per the outlet.
She went on to date actor Bradley Cooper until June 2019. The two share 6-year-old daughter Lea De Seine.
