How I tried to help Pastor Taiwo Odukoya – Ashimolowo

Senior pastor of Kingsway International Christian Centre (KICC) Matthew Ashimolowo has paid tributes to the late founding pastor of Fountain of Life Church Taiwo Odukoya.

In an Instagram post on Thursday, Ashimolowo described Odukoya as one of the most profoundly humble, focused and graceful men to come out of Nigeria.

Odukoya died aged 67 on Monday in the United States. His first wife Bimbo died in 2005. The second Nomthi died in 2021. His twin sister Kehinde Hassan also died in 2021.

Recalling how his relationship with Odukoya began, Ashimolowo said, “Twenty-five years ago I was invited to speak for the Odukoya’s. A great husband and wife team. Each unique in their way. That invitation was to be the beginning of quality connections.

“Looking back, I believe the likes of Pastor Taiwo are rare: buried the first and subsequent wife. Handle the passage of his twin sister. Yet standing tall.

“He opened his wound, I prayed but I felt I should introduce an older prophet who could walk the lonesome valley with him.”
