The lifeless body of Medaiyese Emmanuel, a serving member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) was discovered in his apartment in Sogbesan Street, Oluwo, Abeokuta, Ogun State on Wednesday, Jan. 10.
His family members became concerned when the mother of the deceased couldn’t reach Emmanuel on his mobile phone.
When the deceased’s phone rang out after several attempts, the mother was said to have started looking for someone to help check up on Emmanuel at his apartment in Sogbesan.
The mother phoned one of the corps member’s friends, identified simply as Olumide, and told him about her inability to reach Emmanuel on the phone.
Olumide went to Emmanuel’s room and knocked but the door was locked from the inside and no one was answering.
When all attempts to open the door failed, Olumide, along with other neighbours, forced the door open and they found Emmanuel’s lifeless body.
There was no indication that it was a su*cide or murder as there was no mark of violence found on the body of the deceased.
The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, told Punch: “He was found lifeless on the floor of his room. There was no indication that any crime was committed when our men visited the scene. In the meantime, the corpse has been deposited at the state hospital for autopsy.”
