According to Newark police, they had responded to a report of a shooting at Braidburn Avenue and found Guzman with a gunshot wound. The young boy would later die at the hospital.

Newark police arrested another 15-year-old, one of Guzman’s friends, during the investigation.

On Sunday, October 6, 2019, Guzman’s family laid out a memorial for Anthony.
