Woman dies in meat grinder: A woman has been killed in a horrible meat grinder accident at Muncy Township plant.

The identity of the woman, from Lycoming County, has not been made public by authorities just yet. Her name was being withheld until her next of kin could be notified. She is believed to be i35 years old.

According to Lycoming County Coroner Charles E. Kiessling Jr, there were no witnesses to the accident. The woman had been standing on a set of stairs on wheels prior to the incident.

She was reportedly found after another employee heard a sound and discovered what happened.

The other employee reportedly responded after hearing a noise and then found a body.

So, it remains unclear whether the woman fell into the meat grinder or she was pulled in while reaching for something.

The accident happened around 11:40 am. on Monday April 22nd, 2019 at the Economy Locker Storage Co., located at 324 Worthington Lane, according to the Williamsport Sun-Gazette.

Kiessling Jr. said:

“This was a horrible accident.

We don’t know if she fell in, or was pulled in as she was perhaps reaching for something in the grinder, which was about six feet off the ground.

There are not believed to have been any first-hand witnesses.

By the time volunteer firefighters arrived at the scene, the worker had passed away. Officials spent 45 minutes working on the machine, disassembling it so that the woman’s remains could be recovered.

An investigation of the accident is being led by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
