Tinubu: Reno Omokri states position on Muslim-Muslim ticket
A socio-political commentator, Reno Omokri, has said Nigeria needs a reliable government and not a religious one.
Reno said this while reacting to the report that the All Progressives Congress, APC, flagbearer in the 2023 general election, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, who is a southern Muslim might pick a Muslim to be his running mate.
Tinubu won the presidential primary with a total of 1,271 to defeat his closest rival, Rotimi Amaechi, who polled 316.
Some Nigerians and groups have also vehemently kicked against any move by Tinubu and the APC to pick a Muslim as vice.
Reacting on his Twitter page, Reno said Nigeria is presently running a Muslim-Christian government and the country is imbalanced.
“Having a Muslim-Christian ticket does not balance Nigeria. The government we have now is Muslim-Christian. Look at how imbalanced Nigeria is. Did Osinbajo represent or protect Christians well? What Nigeria needs is a reliable government, not a religious government!
“Unknown to many Nigerians both Gowon and his vice (Admiral Wey) are Christians. Yet, they were loved in the core Muslim North, because they provided peace, security, and progress,” he said.
“They proved that if Nigerians see a performing government, they will forget religion.”
