MainStage Irving-Las Colinas confirmed his death in a statement on Facebook that read:

We are very sad to report the loss of our friend and cast member Tevin Cates, who quietly passed away last night in his sleep.

A Chorus Line was to be Tevin’s debut with our theatre, but he quickly became part of our family during early rehearsals.

Please join us in sending love and support to Tevin’s friends and family at this time.

Below are Tevin’s headshot and bio submitted to us just last week for the A Chorus Line program. He will be in our hearts as we produce the show he was so proud to be a part of.

TEVIN CATES (Don) is excited to make his debut at Mainstage! He’s currently Seasonal at Walt Disney World in Entertainment, in the shows and parades.

Some of Tevin’s most recent roles in DFW have been Prince Eric in THE LITTLE MERMAID, Riff in WEST SIDE STORY!

Thanks to Donovan for all the support! Big hug to Grandad, and all of his family!

Meredith Vogel also shared a touching tribute that read:

One of the very best things about escape rooms is all of the wonderful people we get to meet. Today, we have lost one of those wonderful people.

We have just learned of the passing of Tevin Cates.

We first met Tevin in a random booking over three years ago, and kept in contact with him.

He was currently working at Disney but in town visiting his mom. We kept in touch, and when we opened our escape room, he also was moving home, and he became one of our first game masters.

He helped us build many of our games, and even designed a game for us. He was a joyful person, truly fun to be around. He loved theater and dance, and at one point wanted to open his own escape room.

Please keep Tevin’s mom and sister in your thoughts. Rest in peace, friend.
