Nigerian woman arraigned for assaulting police officer in Lagos
The Lagos State Police Command has taken swift action against a woman caught on camera assaulting a police officer in Ajah on February 21, 2024. Omorogbe Jennifer Soni, a 26-year-old woman, was charged with serious assault following a heated argument with the officer.
The altercation took a physical turn when Omorogbe attempted to reach her car, pushing the female officer forcefully to the ground. This disturbing incident was captured on camera, leading to her arrest by the police.
According to a statement from SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the command, Omorogbe was promptly arraigned the day after the incident, on February 22, 2024, at the Etiosa Magistrate Court in Ajah. The court ordered her remand at the Kirikiri Female Correctional Centre until her next hearing on March 27, 2024.
In his statement, Hundeyin reiterated the commitment of the Lagos State Police Command to uphold the law and ensure the safety of all residents. He urged Lagosians to remain law-abiding in their daily interactions, warning that anyone found guilty of similar offenses would face the full consequences of the law.
