Kobe Kidwell car accident: Kobe Kidwell death, obituary – what happened?

Kobe Kidwell car accident occurred at the intersection of Newhope Street and Westminster Boulevard at about 10:50 a.m.

Statements and video surveillance indicated the driver of a purple 2013 Hyundai Sonata (in which Kidwell was front seat passenger) was southbound on Newhope Street in the left lane when his car was struck in the rear by a black 2014 Toyota Camry that was making a left turn.

The Hyundai was sent careening into a streetlight pole. Kidwell was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, whose identity was not disclosed, suffered facial injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

Two unidentified female passengers in the back seat reportedly suffered serious internal injuries, and were hospitalized. One was listed in critical condition.

According to police, the driver of the Toyota, who has not been identified, was not injured. Drugs or alcohol are not believed to be factors in this unfortunate crash, but an investigation is underway.
