Kauai accident: Here is update about the Kauai traffic accident today.
Please be advised – Kaumualii Hwy West of MM4 has been CLOSED in both directions due to a traffic accident. Officer on scene told an eyewitness – it could be a couple of hours before the roads are opened.
Kauai accident:
Roads will be closed for a while. A gentleman was accidentally hit.
Police said road will be open in the next 2-3 hours after the accident right near Humane Society. According to eye witness reports, Police, fire and ambulance are blocking both sides of Kaumualii highway. This information is from an eye witness who was few cars behind the accident.

- 10:15 P.M. UPDATE — Police are continuing their on-scene investigation of the traffic incident that occurred this evening on Kaumualii Highway. They estimate that the Highway will remain closed for approximately 2-3 hours (i.e. until about 12:15-1:15am). Mahalo for your patience.
- 9 P.M. KIPU TRAFFIC ADVISORY — Kaumualii Highway in the Kipu area, west of mile marker 4, is currently closed in both directions due to a traffic crash. Updates will be posted when more information is available.
Reactions from an eyewitness to Hawaiian Airlines after he missed his flight because of the road block:
You guys are ridiculous. We were on our way to the airport (Kauai) got stuck in a accident that closed the only road to the airport. Missed our flight tried to rebook for the next day and the change fee is 169.00 per person (6 of us).
It’s cheaper to go online and buy a one way ticket then to make the changes. Also this was only an inter island flight.
