Final year ABSU student killed by cultists days before graduation
A final year student of the Abia State University was over the weekend killed by persons suspected to be members of a secret cult in the state.
In a viral video circulated across social media, two unidentified men could be seen trailing the victim who was already covered in blood before one of the assailants shot him at close range, while the other captured the incident with his mobile phone.
The Abia State Government confirmed on Monday the death of the student and attribited it to a cult clash ongoing around the campus.
Briefing newsmen on Monday, after the week’s State Executive Council meeting chaired by the state governor, Alex Otti, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Okey Kanu, said,
“It has come to the notice of the state government about skirmishes in Abia State University, Uturu, between student groups where a student lost his life.
“Some remedial actions have been taken to return normalcy (in the institution). The state government has dispatched some security agencies to Abia State University Uturu.”
He advised students to refrain from violence and face their studies.
