A zebra has given birth to a rare ‘zonkey’ after it reportedly mated with a male donkey.
The zebra which was spotted at the Chyulu Hills National Park in Kenya was with a tiny foal which looked different from a Zebra as it had had stripes, but they weren’t dark and barely covered her body.
When the staff at the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust inspected the foal, they discovered it wasn’t a zebra, but a Zonkey.
Sharing photos of what has been referred to as a “zonkey”, the group wrote:
“It’s a Zonkey! “We’re happy to report that mum and baby are thriving,” said the rescue group in a news release. “Their new home is in an area that isn’t plagued by heavy predation and thanks to the lush conditions, water and grass plentiful it is a good place to call home.”
