The River state police command on Wednesday, January 24th stormed Ibe Street in Elekahia, Port Harcourt, where one 19-year-old, Chiburuoma Boms was allegedly strangled to death and forced into a Septic Tank allegedly by her relations.
In a statement by the police public relation officer, Nnamdi Omoni said Men of the Elekahia Police Station acting on credible information arrested Six persons and are helping the police while her Corpse have been evacuated from the Pit and taken to the Mortuary for autopsy.
The statement said the CP has ordered for the transfer of the matter to State CID, while efforts are on to arrest other suspects at large.
The statement further said the Commissioner of Police, Zaki M Ahmed appealed to residents of Elekahia to remain calm as the Police is poised to bring the perpetrators of the dastardly act to justice, urging the public to be vigilant and report all suspicious movements/persons to the Police.
Recall that in March last year, Operatives of SARS, Rivers State Police Command, arrested three suspects, identified as Sodienye Mbatumukeke, 28, Excel Divine Naabe, 25 and Joy Eluwa, who allegedly robbed and murdered a JUMIA Courier, at No 4, Adaede Street, Off Ada-George Rd in Port Harcourt.
The corpse of the dead Courier was recovered from a septic where they had hidden him after killing him.
Also, in December 2016, a man identified as Elvis, killed his girlfriend and dumped her body inside a septic tank in Lagos.
He then disappeared from his home at 34, John Omolaja Street, badore, Lagos about a month ago after the incident.
Police preliminary investigation shows that the deceased was a nurse at the Lagos Hospital in Lagos.
Her decomposing body was discovered on Monday December 19th, 2016 after a plumber employed by residents of the compound, opened the soak away for cleaning.
Reason for the attack was not unknown, and the police launched a manhaunt for Elvis.
