Yonkers shooting: 2 people are now in police custody after Lake Ave shooting that left an innocent 18 year old lady dead.
The 18-year-old was fatally shot in the head in Yonkers on Thursday night. Police have not released the victim’s name.
The shooting occurred on the corner of Lake Avenue and Morningside Place around 6:30 p.m.
Police say two different groups of individuals got into an altercation, and as the altercation escalated, someone allegedly displayed a firearm and one shot was fired.
The victim was struck in the head and later died at a hospital.
The suspects had scattered when police arrived at the scene. Police say they currently have two people in custody but are still searching for more suspects.
“Unfortunately, they found a young female who died from her injuries.” said Yonkers Police Detective Dean Politopoulos.
No arrests have been made, nor has a weapon been recovered.
The young lady that died, according to reports, lived in the area and was often seen going to work.
Residents have been told they can expect to see an increased police presence on Friday.
