Xenophobia: Heavy security around MTN headquarters in Lagos

The reprisal attacks in Nigeria in reaction to the ongoing xenophobia in South Africa have caused increased security presence at some popular Lagos malls and the MTN Headquarters in the state.

According to Daily Post, officers of the Nigeria Police are protecting Novare Mall at Sangotedo, Circle Mall at Jakande near Osapa London, Maryland Mall, Shoprite in Surulere and Ikeja City Mall.

The spots all have South African businesses including Shoprite, Pep Store, MTN, among others.

Reports have it that security operatives were deployed to the locations between 9pm and 11pm on Tuesday.

Armoured Personnel Carriers and police vehicles were strategically stationed at the locations.
