Why there is no need to struggle for world best player

The highly reverend world best footballer award has been battered with words coming from Atletico Madrid and Brazilian defender, Filipe Luis.

His comments are a reaction to the shock snub of Barcelona forward, Lionel Messi in the final shortlist of players for the Best FIFA Men’s Player award.

Both Luka Modric, Cristiano Ronaldo and Mohamed Salah made it through to the final stage.

Atletico Madrid defender, Luis, is of the opinion that FIFA got it all wrong for its decision to shun the Argentine.

Luis said there will be no need competing for the award as it has lost its credibility owing to the selection process.

Messi is known to be a player to reckon with but his failure to win the Champions League and drive his country beyond the second stage remains a minus for him to bear.

However, Luis maintain that Messi is the world best player and can not be argued.

He told Brazilian outlet Globoesporte that despite not winning trophies, the Barcelona star has won more individual awards which ought to be recognized.

Messi, who now captains the Catalan side will have his major focus on his club career as he might be done with national team football as a result of criticisms.
