The Kaduna church bomber identified as Nathaniel Samuel, at the time he was arrested, mentioned that he thought what he was carrying were fireworks.
He had been accused of carrying an improvised explosive device (IED) in his bag with the alleged intention to bomb a Living Faith Church, aka Winners Chapel branch in the state.
While addressing journalists at the state police command last Monday, the suspect said the “fireworks” was meant for decoration and he only discovered it was an IED when his bag was searched.
“I went to the church in the morning at about past 8 am, so while I was seating down, I was listening to the sermon from the man of God. All of a sudden, I had a stomach ache, so I decided to go and use the toilet.
“When I came into the church I was holding a bag which contained some of my items, some of my documents because a day before that day, I went for an event at Ngwamboro, Sabo.
“When we got to the station, they suspected they were fireworks meant for decoration.”
When further queried by the police, he admitted what he had was an explosive device.
But it appears as if what he was actually carrying on that day were fireworks.
A social media report has it that the items were fireworks and they are used for decorations at events.
A young man's image battered, apparently for NOTHING!
So it was not a bomb but mere fireworks. The suspect in the Winners Church Bomb scare said:
