Uber passenger who was rescued after he jumped int o the lagoon allegedly killed his girlfriend, the Lagos state Police Command revealed.

According to the Police, the Uber passenger who was identified as Princewill David, 28, who lives on Tajudeen Balogun Street, Igando, Lagos, was trying to escape justice after he allegedly killed his girlfriend, hence his jumping into the Lagoon before he was rescued.

Recall that David on February 27, 2020, requested an Uber from his residence to Lekki but on getting to Third Mainland Bridge around 12am, David asked him to stop so he could ease himself.

Due to the fear of him attempting to commit suicide, the Uber driver refused to stop until he got to a station of the Rapid Response Squad on the bridge and alerted them of what was going on. Before they could get to David, he had jumped over the bridge but he landed on some floating logs of wood on the surface of the water and was later rescued by the RRS personnel, the Marine Police Unit and some local divers.

He had said then that he wanted to commit suicide because he had been dumped by his girlfriend. His motive real motive has now been revealed by the Police.

The state Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, revealed that David had an altercation with his girlfriend and allegedly killed her in the process.

Odumosu said: “He had an altercation with his girlfriend and killed her in a hotel and went to jump into the lagoon to escape justice for the crime he committed.”
