A young thief who broke into a house to steal television sets and other items, after he discovered that the occupants of the house had gone to church yesterday, was caught red-handed in the act by neighbours of the theft victims.
The thief who was caught stealing yesterday in Biogbolo area of Bayelsa state, was paraded by the eagle-eyed residents with the items he stole.
This is coming after residents of Agudama Epie in Bayelsa State also paraded a thief, who allegedly tried to stole a Keyboard from a church. The thief who was stripped down to his underwear man was made to carry the Keyboard on his head, and walk around the town of Agudama Epie in Bayelsa in his naked state while a mob surrounded him.
A Facebook user, Ayas Michael who shared photos of the man commended the president of the community and the entire youth for parading the suspected criminal. He said the members of the community can now sleep without fear.
Politician Ebenmosi disclosed that anyone caught stealing in the community will be stripped, and paraded naked after which they will be flogged 39 strokes publicly. He also said the criminal will be made to pay a fine of N10,000, before being handed over the police.
Also few months ago, a dismissed soldier, John Andrew, was arrested by the police for allegedly being part of a syndicate, responsible for snatching vehicles with master keys in Bayelsa and other states across the country.
Andrew, who admitted his involvement in many car-stealing operations, was apprehended in Akenfa in Yenagoa during a stop-and-search operation. The suspect, who hails from Cross River State, was said to have allegedly stolen many vehicles using master keys produced for him in Ghana.
Andrew, it was gathered, was a leader of a five-man gang, who allegedly spread their criminal tentacles to Enugu, Benue and Cross River states.
