A British writer and Twitter user @moniquemonrowe has publicly rejected the notion that a man is the head of the house, an idea she said is deeply rooted in religion and specifically the Bible.
According to the writer, she cannot accept a concept written at ‘a time period when women did not have equal consideration or power’. @moniquemonrowe also said that this does not reconcile with today’s reality or the modern woman or family.
Her tweets reads;
I strongly reject the idea that the man is the head of the house and it’s not a concept I’m going to teach my children nor abide by.
The idea that a man is the head of a household of head of a woman is deep rooted into religion and specifically the bible. I cannot accept a concept written at a time period where women did not have equal consideration or power.
This does not reconcile with today’s reality or the modern woman or family. A lot of biblical concepts do not. We have to use interpretation to work out which ones we deem appropriate.
I disagree that a man should be considered the head of a woman or household even when married. Everyone is within their own rights to accept or reject it. I reject it.
That a fair justification but I still don’t think this resonates with the modern day. Physical strength is not a quality I require in a husband so I still reject this.
Yes and I’ve had several discussions with pastors and other Christians. I do not accept the concept.
Hey guys: I’m not here to debate this. Please don’t send me think pieces or biblical quotes. I said ‘I reject’, ‘My children’. You are free to believe/accept whatever you wish to. Have a good day
Honestly, the responses were so predictable and full of fragile egos & I’ve blocked those being rude, I don’t play that!
