The accused, a pupil of Ado Grammar School, Odo-Ado in Ado-Ekiti, is standing trial for murder of 18-year-old Favour Matthew.

According to the prosecutor, Insp. Johnson Okunade, the accused stabbed Matthew on the chest and killed him on December 6 in Ado-Ekiti.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the court did not take the plea of the accused, as Chief Magistrate Adesoji Adegboye said he needed advice from the state Director of Public Prosecutions.

He ordered that the accused be kept at the state Children Correctional Centre, pending the DPP’s advice.

Adegboye adjourned the case until January 18, 2019 for mention.

  29. In this case that we have been following for some time now, look at this case critically you will understand this was a fight instigated by the deceased that he has power against death and any penetration in his body. If the victim did not overpower him, he could have been the one stabbed too. I’m not a lawyer but I plea for self defense. This case must not be political and be judged without bias.

  30. As reported on this issue
Favour Mathew started out with a weapon and the 16 Years old did what he did for self defence
So this case should be dealt with with caution

  63. Hw s still a minor and cannot be charged for killing and even if he is charged and found guilty he can only be corrected by any other means apart from Jail term.

  64. This is what anger can cause. You give into ur emotion or feeling u let loose den the consequence becomes greater.

  65. Oh my God, what is really happening in our country. I hope this is not cultism war. We has parents have a lot to do on our children and wards.
