Shauna Tiaffay death: George Tiaffay, Noel Stevens today

46 year old Palms Casino cocktail waitress and mother Shauna Tiaffay was beaten to death inside her suburban Las Vegas home by a homeless man hired by her husband, Las Vegas firefighter George Tiaffay.

George Tiaffay had hired a homeless man named Noel “Greyhound” Stevens to crush her skull with a hammer. The two men spent weeks planning the killing, authorities said.

Stevens, who had been friends with the former firefighter for years, would later admit to tracing Shauna Tiaffay’s steps, burglarizing her apartment and waiting inside on Sept. 29, 2012, before beating her to death with a hammer.

In 2013, Noel Scott Stevens, pleaded guilty to murdering Shauna Tiaffay with a claw hammer in her apartment in the early hours of September 29, 2012.

During Tiaffay’s trial the jury was shown a video of George Tiaffay and an homeless man, Noel Scott Stevens, buying dark clothes at a Walmart, and a hammer, knife and gloves at another store several weeks before Shauna’s murder.

The court heard that Tiaffay had talked to Stevens 87 times in the month before the deadly attack.

On September 3, 2015, a jury at Clark County District Court found Tiaffay guilty of murder for hiring.

George appealed his conviction for first degree murder saying he suffered from lingering effects of prescription medication when Shauna Tiaffay was bludgeoned to death with a hammer in September 2012 as she returned to her Summerlin apartment.

According to George, writing in the third person and in all capital letters:

“The prescriptions altered his mind and removed his ability to know right from wrong to the point that he thought God directed him to perpetrate a crime to protect his child.”

He lost his appeal.

Shauna Tiaffay’s family’s journey to find justice for Shauna finally came to pass almost 4 years after her death with George’s conviction.

They were able to move Shauna’s grave from Las Vegas, home to Utah, next to their dad.

In a statement on Facebook, Shauna’s family wrote:

There are no words to describe how grateful we are for your love and support as we’ve navigated this sad, unbelievable tragedy.

We have often referred to you (our supporters) as our “Army of Pink Soldiers” whether in person or here online, you gave us the strength and conviction to keep the faith that justice would be served for our sweet Shauna.

To our “Las Vegas Family,” we will never forget you and love you dearly. Our hearts are forever broken over this senseless act of violence, but we hope sharing Shauna’s story will help others recognize the signs of domestic violence before it is too late.
