Elisha Abbo may go through the night in police custody in the wake of handing himself over as a major aspect of a continuous investigation concerning his assault scandal.
PREMIUM TIMES learnt from Abuja police commissioner, Bala Ciroma that Mr Abbo had honored Wednesday’s invitation over his fierce slap of a lady at a sex toy shop in May.
Mr Abbo apologized for his attitude on Wednesday night, hours after the police and the Senate started a separate probe of the matter.
Mr Ciroma revealed to PREMIUM TIMES the Senator was still at the FCT Police Command Headquarters as of 8:15 p.m. Thursday, over four hours after he reported for interrogation.
Mr Ciroma included that Mr Abbo probably won’t be discharged this evening except if he meets his bail conditions.
The police chief did not immediately explain whether charges would be filed, or when.
The police have been experiencing a compulsion to continue with the criminal arraignment of the Senator, with most rights groups rejecting his statement of regret as lacking against the gravity of the physical assault that saw the female injured victim land in the clinic for eye irritation.
