A mum-of-three has been branded ‘selfish’ and ‘disgusting’ after posting a photo online of the excess Christmas presents she has bought her children for the festive season.
The pile of gifts is so big it swamps her Christmas tree but as she faced criticism for ‘spoiling’ her children she hit back: ‘It’s my money’.
Emma Tapping, 38, admitted she previously spent £2,000 on her children’s Christmas presents and said that despite the backlash she won’t give up the treats.
It’s not the first time Emma, of the Isle of Man, has faced criticism for buying hoards of presents but decided to once again share a snap on Instagram of this year’s haul.
One person called it ‘disgusting’ but Emma said that ‘nobody is going to change my mind’ about the gifts.
There are so many presents in the pile that only the tip of the tree is visible. ‘So many people have nothing you should donate them,’ one person wrote.
‘Personally I think this is ridiculous who needs this many it’s just selfish.’ Another said: ‘Might just be because I have 11 under my tree, but this photo is just disgusting.’
Other came to the mother’s defence, arguing that it is her right to spend her money on what she wants.
Last year, Emma appeared on This Morning to defend the festive splurge, saying she starts buying the gifts for her children in January.
‘I don’t spoil them throughout the year. If they want something they have to do chores and buy it themselves. ‘If they break their phones for example, they don’t just get a new one from me. They get stuff they need but they don’t get spoiled.
‘Christmas has always been a big day for me and I like to carry that on. I don’t really care what people think.
‘I work and I work hard. I have two jobs. I think to myself “it’s my money and they are my kids”. ‘If I want to spoil them at Christmas, I’m going to do it and nobody is going to change my mind.
