A prospective customer has shared how a business owner who insisted on calling him “dear” ended up messing up the big sale.
Social media user, Temi who found a business he was interested in on Instagram started a conversation with the business owner who repeatedly called him sweet names including “dear” even after he was corrected, the sale ended up not pulling through because of this.
See his post below.
Found a business I was interested in on IG and in making inquiries, the business owner was quick to call me ‘dear’ after every sentence. Of course, he didn’t know I was male because my avatar is gender abstract. I let him have his fun and in the middle of the conversation, he
Said and I quote, “There is nothing wrong with me calling u ‘dear’, that’s how I interact with my customers”. This was after I complained that, “Don’t you think ‘dear’ is too informal for someone you don’t know?” So I played along.
I said, “Okay dear, no problem 😘.”
Immediately, he sent me a friend request and I accepted, all the while we kept throwing adorable nicknames around. I could tell he was having the time of his life because he liked all the texts I sent that included “dear” and “sweetie”.
I accepted his friend request and viola, gender reveal. It’s a boyyyy!
“You’re a guy?”
“Yes dear, I am. So how much if I’m buying in bulk sweetie?”
“Pls stop that.”
“Stop what dear? I don’t understand.”
“I thought you were a lady, that’s why I called you dear”
“Honey, what does that have to do with business? That’s how I interact with my customers dear.”
“Buy if u want to buy. Stop calling me dear. Are you gay?”
“Come on, don’t give me that dear. I know you don’t mind. You said it yourself, that’s how you interact with customers.”
“Oloshi. If u are looking for a gay to fuck, is not me. Fuck off”
“Don’t be like that dear. I don’t want to fuck you. I just wanna buy your products. 😘”
I’ve been blocked. But I didn’t lose this battle. I’m well satisfied with the returns of my affection.
If you can’t be a professional business owner, you have no business doing business in the first place.
Don’t call me dear, make me catch feelings for you and then act like I’m the devil. You’re my sweetie and you know it. 😘
